Development Issues and Advocacy

The NAIOP Vancouver Government Relations Committee is a collective voice advocating on municipal and provincial policies that affect the commercial real estate industry. We communicate, monitor and take action to continue to ensure the voice of NAIOP Vancouver is heard and the needs and interests of our membership are being addressed.

The Government Advocacy Update is provided to inform you of the potential policy changes and the actions NAIOP Vancouver is taking. The key issues we are currently focused on include the following:

Why pursue development issues?

  • Facilitate unified responses to proposed local or provincial government policies impacting our business
  • Opportunities for meaningful interaction with senior-level municipal staff and management
  • Provide up to date information on business and legislative developments affecting commercial and industrial real estate
  • Professional development opportunities with leading industry experts through the annual Developer's Symposium
  • Solicit and compile statistical information on cost and approval-time trends across 20 municipalities through the annual Cost of Business Survey
